• Read all instructions on and accompanying the ladder.
• Check the maximum load indicated on the platform.
• Ensure that you are fit enough to use a platform. Certain medical conditions or medications, alcohol or drug abuse could make platform use unsafe.
• Ensure the ladder is suitable for the task.
• Visually check the platform is not damaged, including the feet, or shows any signs of excessive wear and is safe to use at the start of each working day when
• Remove any contamination from the platform, such as wet paint, mud, oil, water or snow.
• Inspect the platform after delivery and before every use to confirm condition and operation of all parts.
• Before using a platform at work a risk assessment should be carried out respecting the legislation in the country of use.
• For professional users regular periodic inspection is required.
• Do not use a damaged platform.
• Prevent damage of the platform when transporting e.g. by fastening and ensure they are suitably placed to prevent damage.
• Do not modify the platform design.
POSITIONING THE PLATFORM
• When positioning the platform, take into account risk of collision with the platform e.g. from pedestrians, vehicles or doors. Secure doors (not fire exits) and
windows where possible in the work area.
• Platform shall not be positioned on slippery surfaces (such as ice, shiny surfaces or significantly contaminated surfaces) unless additional effective measures
are taken to prevent the platform slipping or ensuring contaminated surfaces are sufficiently clean.
• Identify any electrical risks in the work area, such as overhead lines or other exposed electrical equipment.
• Locking devices e.g. hinge locks and height adjustment (where applicable) shall be fully secured before use.
• Platform shall be on a even, level and unmovable base.
• Platform shall be stood on its feet, not the rungs or steps.
• Do not move a platform while standing on it.
USING THE PLATFORM
• Do not exceed the maximum total load.
• Do not overreach.
• Wear suitable footwear when using a platform.
• Do not use the platform outside in adverse weather conditions, such as strong wind.
• Take precautions against children playing on the platform.
• Secure doors (not fire exits) and windows where possible in the work area.
• Do not spend long periods on a platform without regular breaks (tiredness is a risk).
• Maximum one user can stand on the platform at a time.
• Avoid work that imposes a sideways load on ladders, such as side-on drilling through solid materials.
• Do not carry equipment which is heavy or difficult to handle while using a platform.
• Do not step off the side of standing platform onto another surface.
REPAIR, MAINTENANCE & STORAGE
• Repairs and maintenance shall be carried out by a competent person and be in accordance with the producer’s instructions.
• Platform should be stored in a dry place, away from excessive heat, and not left exposed to the elements.
• Store the platform where it cannot be damaged by vehicles, heavy objects, or contaminants.
• Platforms made of or using thermoplastic, thermosetting plastic and reinforced plastic materials should be stored out of direct sunlight.
GUARANTEE
Our guarantee includes: faults arising from defects in Workmanship or Materials except for –
• Ordinary wear and tear of the Product.
• Damage caused by misuse or abuse of the Product.
• Damage caused by failure to comply with all written Warnings and instructions for the Product.
• Damage caused by an attempted repair of the Product.
Material – means a material or component used by Werner in the manufacture of the Product.
